Andrew is working as an Archeology Technician this summer at the Colorado National Monument. His main duties include conducting field surveys and identifying prehistoric and historic cultural resources in the park, assembling and writing official reports, editing GIS data, creating maps of archeological sites, and performing archival research when needed. A few other tasks he gets involved in occasionally include helping train other field workers on the locations of archeological sites they may encounter, mitigating any possible damage, and assisting with certain tasks related to the park’s museum collection.

He has reported that he is “very happy to spend my summer in Colorado, helping protect the important cultural resources in our National Parks. Hiking up and down the canyons we have here can be difficult work at times, but knowing that our work will help preserve these archeological sites makes it all worth it.”
